Hello 1 Year, 7 Months ago
I was an engineer _base_d in Guam back in early 90's. Worked mostly on US Naval _base_ projects for a general contractor then moved to public works when the economy dwindled on mid-90's. Can't take the politics so I moved to Texas and changed job and have been a programmer for the past 9 years.

Planning on starting my own business as a general contractor and feeling like a total newbie now (9 years is a long time).

Questions...
1. Which estimating software will you recommend? Qty take off is easy for me but I think my pricing is way off due to the time and difference in locality. I know it will take a while before I can get the current prices so a push to the right direction will be highly appreciated.

2. Which sotware will you recommend for contract documents?

Thanks!
Dario

I use national estimator and the contracts they sell right here on this site. The estimator software is really simple to use and the cost data updates automatically. You can find the stuff using the menu with the little red arrows along the side.
