Fiberglass insulation between steel studs, 3 Years, 9 Months ago
I have full 16" batts of fiberglass insulation for installation between steel studs that are 16" OC. I am wondering if the insulation can be propped up between the studs or will I need some kind of adhesive, or mechanical fastener to hold it into place. If so, how should I go about affixing the insulation into place?

Thanks.

I might try spray adhesive along the stud, or a staple/nail at the very top of the faced batt into the wood joist above where possible.

The guys I work with, typicallly just stuff the insulation between the studs. Occassionally, they use some spray adhesive on the stud face.

Not so sure of what kinda adhesives that you wanna apply on your studs, but to my understanding is that you need not to use ANY adhesives/bond b/c they may cause damage to the insulation during installation. Normally we use a wire-mesh and the insulation itself must have a double face skin sticker
