Ahhh, yes, the infamous Home Depot Porter Cable Kit.....Im guilty as well...LOL The compressor that comes with it is nice and the pin gun is good, but the finish nailer leaves something to be desired, especially in its nail-setting. It fit the bill and budget when I bought it, but Im definately planning an upgrade to Senco eventually.
I've spent a little time using a friend's Porter Cable _frame_r and didnt find it to be a BAD gun, but there are better ones out there. Paslodes are excellent, as well as Senco. My partner is a Senco fan and its what he uses. I've found Bostitch to be an excellent gun. I currently use their _frame_r and although its a bit on the heavy side and loading is a bit clumsier than the Senco, its still an excellent gun.
Another plus to the Bostitch in my opinion is the nail clips. They are short clips so they fit nicely into your nailbag and the wire that binds them is far superior to the paper many other manufacturers use. Senco clips have a tendency to break when when they take that "fall from the nailbag" while you are crawling around up in the trusses, and leave a few clips lying out in the rain overnight (you know we have all done it...dont lie

) and the paper deteriorates. Bostitch clips are fairly indestructable....which to me means fewer wasted nails.
My coil nailer for roofing is Porter Cable as well....dont bother. That thing is just a few more misfires away from being on my endangered species list. Go with a Bostitch for a much better gun.
