Are there "industry standards" for labour costs on 6 Years, 11 Months ago
I'm in the process of starting my own home renovation business, and although I've worked for many people in many trades, I have not been involved in the pricing stages. I am located in Toronto Canada, and was wondering if there was a website or resource where I can find average or suggested prices. Things like: labour cost of drywall and tape per sq ft, labour cost of fences per sq ft, cost of installation for windows and doors, cost of installation of siding (alum, vinyl, cedar) per sq. Basically I need to figure out what is a fair price for labour on various home reno projects. Any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated.

One of the best that I use is the 2003 National Construction Estimator by Crafstman. I believe it is available from Contractor City in the "Cost Estimators" tab. It comes with a CD and is easy to use and is adjustable city to city. I think this will be a good program if you are just getting started. Good luck and let me know how it works for you.
