We have partnered with some of the industry's leading experts to offer tips and advice on estimating, managing overhead, effective marketing strategies, franchising, sales, accounting, project management and many, many more topics. Each month will feature new set of topics that address the questions you have and provide you with the answers you need.
So, you're probably wondering what makes us the experts, right? Our parent company, iBid Estimating Service, was founded in 2003 on the idea that we would provide a revolutionary service encompassing estimating, bid management and operations consulting to Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC companies that would allow them to bid on and win more business. As we grew and expanded we noticed a recurring theme - most of our clients were excellent at some aspects of their business but needed help in others. We recognized that there was a need to take all of our clients through a type of business boot camp that would give them the know-how to excel in good times as well as bad times. We accomplished this by providing them access to the resources that would help them control costs, manage their cash flow, develop marketing plans and sales strategies to capture new business while generating repeat business and referrals. This exercise helped them to take control of their business so that they could better track and understand the bidding process, the industry numbers and which projects would likely be profitable while avoiding the ones that would not.
Today we have well over 600 contractors as regular clients and work with hundreds more on a project-by-project basis - and we are continually growing! We average well over $85 Million each month in bid proposals from all over the United States. What is most important to us is that our service helps our clients increase their profitibility AND their bid-to-win ratio! We believe the time is right to start sharing some of these ideas with you!
Starting this September we will be providing information on the Estimating Process; Manual versus Computer. We will cover different software and technology, equipment, worksheets, tools and services. We will also cover Managing Numbers in a Down Economy; this will encompass cash flow, overhead costs, net profit, finances, break even rates and eliminating losses. October will feature an Introduction to Estimating and Competing and Winning Profitably. Future editions will continue to explore these and many other issues in depth.
